Top Used Jeeps
Jeep is a specialty automotive manufacturer has a long history of producing trucks and SUVs capable of off-highway adventures. Jeep took root in WWII as the name of the now-iconic four-wheel-drive military vehicle produced by Willys-Overland and Ford for the U.S. Army. Jeep broke new ground in the 1960s with the debut of its Wagoneer. Geared toward active families, this early SUV was the first four-wheel-drive vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. The 1980s saw the introduction of the Cherokee and Wrangler. The Cherokee was one of the first of the new breed of SUVs - midsize wagons that skyrocketed in popularity as the decade progressed. In 2007, Daimler sold the Chrysler Group to a private equity firm. Despite the latest ownership change, Jeep maintains a loyal group of customers thanks to its focused mission of building fearless, go-anywhere vehicles.
Used Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most recognized vehicles on the road, or off the road, where ever it may be. A boulder-friendly approach angle of 44.3 degrees and breakover angle of 25.4 degrees, along with a 40.4 degree departure angle, once again make the 2007 Jeep Wrangler the most formidable off-roader. Providing unmatched wheel articulation and durability, Jeep Wrangler X and Sahara models feature an enhanced Dana 30 front axle and Dana 35 rear axle.
Used Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee is sold in Overland, Laredo and Limited variations for 2007. A new 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 is available for 2007. The Grand Cherokee can also be equipped with a 3.7-liter V-6, a 4.7-liter V-8 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. The 4.7-liter V-8 can run on E85 fuel, and the 5.7-liter Hemi incorporates a Multi-Displacement System that deactivates half of the cylinders during cruising and light acceleration in order to increase fuel economy. Quadra-Trac I provides full-time all-wheel-drive operation and requires no attention from the driver. Quadra-Trac II is a full-time active four-wheel-drive system that has low-range gearing. Quadra-Drive II includes electronic limited-slip differentials for heightened offroad capability. For high-performance fans, a Grand Cherokee SRT8 is also available. The used Grand Cherokee's appearance is led by Jeep's signature seven-slot grille, which is flanked by round headlamps. Five occupants fit inside the Grand Cherokee, and the driver faces a symmetrical two-tone instrument panel. Available features include a navigation radio, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, Boston Acoustics audio and rear park assist. SRT-tuned dampers, unique sway bars, special spring rates and suspension bushings are installed.
Used Jeep Liberty
Solidly constructed, the Liberty offers quick, precise steering with moderate effort and it's a pleasant driving experience. In 2002, the Jeep division of DaimlerChrysler replaced the old Cherokee with a slightly larger sport utility vehicle called the Liberty. Short front and rear overhangs allow 36-degree approach and 31.5-degree departure angles for effective offroad driving. An electronic stability system and tire pressure monitoring system are standard. Used Liberty SUVs have a coil-spring independent front suspension and a solid rear axle with coil springs. Wheels are 16 inches in diameter (17 inches on the Limited). Available skid plates cover the fuel tank and transfer case, and an optional Trailer Tow Group yields a 5,000-pound towing capacity. Used Liberty models can hold up to five people. It teams with either a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The Liberty is offered with either rear- or four-wheel drive.
Used Jeep Commander
The 2007 Jeep Commander is a midsize SUV. Three trim levels are offered: Sport, Limited and Overland. The Sport comes standard with air-conditioning, full power accessories, keyless entry, rear park assist, a CD player and a 50/50-split folding third-row seat. The used Commander Limited has these features as well as a sunroof with second-row skylights, a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, a separate rear HVAC unit, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power and heated front seats, leather upholstery and a driver-seat memory. Properly equipped, the Commander can tow a 7200-pound load.Sport models have the basic Quadra Trac 4WD system and can be upgraded to the electronically shifted Quadra Trac II 4WD system. The Limited has the latter as standard. Standard safety features on the 2007 Jeep Commander include antilock disc brakes, stability control and side curtain airbags. Power-adjustable pedals are optional on the Sport and standard on the Limited and Overland. The front seats are comfortable and well positioned. With all rear seats folded, total cargo capacity is a subpar 68.9 cubic feet.
Used Jeep Patriot
The 2007 Jeep Patriot, the latest vehicle derived from Chrysler's C-segment platform, distinguishes itself from its Compass sibling with more palatable Jeep styling, including a blockier front fascia. What sets it apart from the Compass, though, is the optional Trail Rated Freedom Drive II all-wheel-drive system. Like the Compass, the Patriot is front-drive standard, with optional Freedom Drive I andits electronically controlled coupling (ECC) to the rear differential, transmitting torquethrough a two-clutch system. The Patriot-only Freedom Drive II uses the same ECC, but adds one inch of ground clearance, 17-inch all-terrain tires and aluminum wheels, full-size spare, skidplates, tow hooks, foglamps, manual seat-height adjuster, and a lower ratio for the CVT. Unfortunately, that means there's no manual gearbox in the Trail Rated version. Fast off-roading is what Jeep offered in the Patriot first drive. Like its platform siblings, the used Patriot is stuck with the DaimlerChrysler/Hyundai/Mitsubishi "global" 2.4-liter VVT four. It's not a bad engine, but not stellar.
