The new Ram HD is a surprisingly comfortable ride that if fully capable to take on any heavy towing or hauling. Even though the 1500 and HD noticeably differ in size, the two cabs from the interior compare quite remarkably. There were no noticeable changes for the Heavy Duty from past model years besides the new 6-Speed transmission for gas engines, a new black front-end for ST models, and an upgraded MaxTow package for higher towing capabilities. For safety measures all HD Rams include dual front multistage air bags, side curtain air bags, and adjustable height front belts. Then for those with children LATCH child-seat anchors, and child-protection rear door locks.
There is no hiding the fact that the 2012 Ram HD is a boat of a truck that stretches at least 19 feet in length. Though the size of the truck dimensions might alter the confidence of the driver at first glance, but once inside the Heavy Duty truck drivers will get a better feel of how to handle its size. The truck is incredibly silent for its stature, with very little to no shudder at all while driving thanks to the new advanced body mounting system and suspension tuning. With the new 6-Speed transmission their is an increase in acceleration and improved fuel economy from past model years. Diesel buyers are given a choice between automatic or manual transmissions (both of which are 6-Speed). Manual operation allows for increased power and towing capabilities.
The Ram HD shares the same cabin to that of the 1500 truck model. The interior provides great leg room for drivers and passengers alike, and what seems like an almost infinite amount of compartment storage space, so you can easily pack tools or any items for the trek ahead. The seats are very comfortable and adjustable, regardless if they are bucket or front bench style. Along with the option to have ventilating cooling seats, there is optimal comfort while driving the new Ram HD. The audio and entertainment systems thanks to the mitigated sounds from outside the cab provides robust volume control inside. Instrumentally the dash provides the driver with gauges to measure everything from transmission temperature to tire pressure.
Aside from the black front-end on the ST there is no changes to last years model. Compared to the 1500, the HD model has a larger grill to allow more efficient cooling of the engine, a reshaped bumper and hood. The simplest way to determine which is a 1500, and which is an HD is just on pure size. The Heavy Duty truck is one bold working machine. When compared to its competitors, the Ram has a bulkier appearance than that of the Chevy Silverado, but a smoother contour in comparison to the boxy look of the Ford Super Duty. Beyond the frame and structure of the 2012 Ram HD, Ram also offers a variety of paint colors to help make your decision to purchase a new truck a unique one.
